Taking an FB break...

... the political venom (on both sides) was getting to me, and I found that when I was posting in any related threads I was getting actually emotional. This is especially true when I actually try to discuss stuff; FB is TERRIBLE for ongoing discussion. When I get to that point it's time to leave. So I figure I won't be back there until well after the election (probably December, long enough for the wailing from whatever faction lost, and the snickering from whatever faction won, to die down to a dull roar.

I will still be here on LJ, though.

Kathy's computer decided to stop booting this weekend. So I took it in this morning.

Hard drive is borked. They're not sure if they can recover anything from it or not.

So I'm out something like $300 and Kathy's out whatever wasn't backed up on the drive, which could be quite a bit.

On the positive side (trying to stay positive here), I don't need to buy her a brand new computer -- which I couldn't, at this point -- and she'll have a VASTLY larger hard drive this time (I think something like five times her prior drive's size).
