Why do *none* of these artists read the description of treecats?

Everyone always gets treecats wrong. They don't look like cats. They look more like mustelids. I wouldn't mind if it was a cute anime ferret/otter/weasel beast. Mmm, some of the earlier covers of the text books tried but that seems to have faded.
