Today's On My Shelves...

... is on the ridiculously exciting action-adventure film Equilibrium, starring Christian Bale in his pre-Batman days!

Ah, yes. Like the Avengers, a movie with a plot that's absolute nonsense, but you go along with just because it's so damned cool.

BTW I like the GCA drawings, though I have to wonder if the Molothos are so darned cranky because they had to build their entire civilization with their mouths. ;p

It's absurd, but it is consistent with itself, and a fun film to watch.
And while I know that you don't like the Champions game system itself, here's my stab at writing up Cleric Preston. It came out okay:

Yes, the gun kata is an absurd idea, but it is so cool on the screen, and they actually tried to have an interesting plot. So, (broken record time), as I often remark when this movie comes up, I was excited to learn the writer-director was doing Ultraviolet, because I assumed Season 5 or whatever would deeply explore the origin of Buffy's slayer powers. Oh wait, that's a different, wrong-assumption pulled full-cloth from incomplete information. What I meant was, I assumed it was based on the BBC mini-series simply from hearing the title. Then I learned it was unrelated, and thought the actual movie was rather disappointing.

I particularly liked the "gun katas" scene in that movie...:-)
