The biggest kick I've ever gotten was to hear folks discussing my characters (in an original spy series published in zines) the same way they would discuss any TV show or movie. It was flattering. The readers of our spy stories even lobby us re: what to do with their favs. And we've written some of them into the stories. One person even wrote a fan fic story with a couple of our characters. We loved it.
