"Wasted Money!" or Why Elon's "Waste" Discoveries Don't Make Me Less Mad At Him

Wow, two in one day, I don't do that often.

The usual idiots are now crowing over "Elon found billions in waste!" and "so you're mad at the guy finding the waste and not the wasted money!"

Well, yeah, I am, and I'll tell you why.

First, a lot of what is being claimed as "waste" isn't -- it's projects that help people in various ways, or that are part of scientific research that, when summed up in one line, doesn't make sense to a layman.  (Millions for condoms for the AFRICAN location of Gaza which are provided to reduce the incidence of STDs, for instance). Research on animals that's really hard to do on people for numerous reasons. Et cetera.

This isn't hard to figure out; most Federal expenditures are actually matters of public record, in ALREADY ACCESSIBLE form (i.e., "DOGE" didn't need any of this overarching access to do most of the search). Black projects, especially military stuff, wouldn't be, but he would have NO BUSINESS looking at stuff at that level anyway.

Second, he's finding billions, not trillions. Billions is trivial shit on this scale, and in no way excuses him crashing his way drunkenly through our secure databases, screwing up the payment system, and stealing our data wholesale. The cheering fools are in the position of having a burglar ransack their house and find that you lost $20 in the couch cushions, while he's ripping out the walls and doing thousands of dollars in damage, ruining the locks on the house, and also taking your lockbox with your birth certificate and insurance docs.

The latter is of course the real problem. He's not an auditor looking for waste, he's a criminal ruining the machinery. He and his team have neither knowledge, nor care for what they're doing. They're treating the government as a simple office audit of a company they control, and every single part of that is wrong.

There is no oversight on this man or his team. There's nothing making them even tell the truth about what they find or what they're doing. No one should have allowed them in the doors, let alone given them access -- even just read access, let alone read-write-modify-commit full access -- to any of the systems. They should in no way have been allowed to bring in external media and servers.

This is a criminal data heist of unimaginable proportions, that's also vandalizing the systems that support literally millions of people from month to month.

And these morons are cheering because Elon's claiming to find money in the couch cushions, and for all I can tell, he's pocketing it.

Even worse, he is pocketing the personal data of every U.S. citizen for later plunder while his workers [& in some case interns] have unfettered access to computer systems that most government workers do not understand & won't be able to protect from exploits / back doors / malicious hacking.

I have encountered the screaming trolls, and they very much don't want to hear that the ransacking of government files has not turned up anything new at all. As in, said troll could have found out last year by a few minutes on Google.

Given past performance, I find it no surprise at all that he hired half-competent script kiddies.

Oh, he loves young geniuses. As long as he can hire them on H-1B Visas.
