9. "What an incredible smell you've discovered!" -- From Star Wars (and no, NOT "A New Hope"), ID'd first by janetmiles

10. "No, Mr. Bond; I expect you to die." -- From Goldfinger, ID'd first by rdmasters

11. "This hotel thinks of everything; they have even provided an assassin with room service."

12. "If you were waiting for the opportune moment... that was it." -- From Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, ID'd first by k_kinnison and by nuranar; they apparently posted simultaneously but Kinnison is, of course, before Nuranar in the alphabet.

"A man's got to know his limitations." -- From Magnum Force, in a sort of tie ID'd first by hallerlake and by gridlore; Hallerlake had correctly recognized the CHARACTER but designated the wrong movie, and then started firing randomly (ha ha!) in the general area until he hit, while Gridlore went straight to the correct movie.

18. "All that has transpired here has done so according to my design." -- the signature line of the Emperor from Return of the Jedi, ID'd first by ross_teneyck

I have to say that 7 is one of my all time greatest quotes ever.

Indeed, it has even become something of a mantra when dealing with remote-site managers who do not know how to log support calls or change requests.

And I was startled to see it took so long for anyone to recognize THAT line from RotJ.

Re: #17... ah, now that I know the origin you're probably right. The line I was thinking of was delivered by Alfred while Bruce was stitching himself up after the dog attack in the first reel, refering to Batman's vigilante status. It'd have been the perfect moment to drop in a Dirty Harry homage.

Just to satisfy my own curiosity, I googled the three quotes still left unanswered. It may amuse you to know that for two of them, the only hit is this very post.

11: that sounds awfully like Inspector Clouseau to me.

But since I can't recall it at all, I'm going to say it's Steve Martin in the recent remake.

No, the character saying it is actually quite serious that he's happy to find an assassin visiting him; it's not a comedic character. (And there is NO Clouseau who was not Peter Sellers. It is inconceivable.)

#8 is, I think, Jet Li as the Monkey King in the Jackie Chan/ Jet Li movie version that came out in the last year or two. The name of the movie escapes me though. Might have that wrong. :) Gack - I feel rather frustrated not using Google to verify that. How odd that is...
