A minor new wrinkle in spam-page annoyances. You try to close the window, it does a popup window asking if you really want to navigate away from the page, and makes the "Cancel" button the one to STAY on that page, and the "OK" button the one to actually close the window and go away.

I've seen those - I absolutely despise them.

You use a browser that allows pop-ups or spam pages? How bizarre!

Because that will make you want to buy their product.

You should run a MalwareBytes (malwarebytes.org) scan on the machine - some pages like that are poisoned to do that and upload crap.

I was gonna say....

Yeah, AdBlock Plus and NoScript make browsing bearable. Nothing pops up (or under) without my express permission. And any ads that do penetrate the perimeter are easily added to the "Kill this now and forever, please" list.

Aaaaah!

True, but I (with my professional hat on) still recommend it because it "only takes once".

I've got a *program* (an accessory for a useful program I need) that does that. Click close and the popup has "yes" for minimize" and "no" for "really close it"
