Now that you're on the Beta list, you can read Grand Central Arena too. Although *THAT* book *IS* being published (comes out in April of next year).

Obviously the DuQuesne in GCA is based on the one in Skylark, though he's a good-guy version. If you haven't read the third and fourth Skylarks, though, you miss some of the best of the original, especially Skylark DuQuesne.

I don't fit in any of those guys' boxes myself; Eric Flint *IS* a commie, literally (he used to be a literal card-carrying Communist). Ringo and Kratman come across as RAMBO was a WIMP! types. David Drake is of course an experienced military man. I'm a... rational Libertarian, I suppose.
