Writer's Block: I'm the taxman, yeah!

There are a lot of alternatives. Some of them would never be enacted. Some I'd like to see tried.

What unfortunately is NOT feasible is getting rid of taxes of one sort or another. Not in a civilization this large which depends on infrastructure that requires maintenance, and one that is made up of human beings and thus subject to the Free Rider problem and the related Prisoner's Dilemma.

One of the few  beliefs I held when younger that actually significantly changed was this one; I used to believe it would be possible to abolish taxes entirely. Alas, I was finally convinced that the Free Rider problem would be significant enough in any large society to make that an impractical dream.

Thinking about doing Podcasts...

Right now I'm trying to finish up a story for PSTPW Day, but after tha t -- besides continuing to look for an agent -- I would like to seriously devote time to podcasting. I have a podcasting kit/setup that my Loyal Lieutenant gave me, now I have to (A) figure out how to use it and make the results available, and (B) More importantly, figure out what would be worthwhile to DO in a podcast -- and what's feasible.

Never having seen/heard one -- I'm going to change that tonight by listening to an interview that John Wilkerson ("The Jesusgeek") did in two parts, the first part here and the second part here -- I have the impression that they're like radio broadcast segments except without the necessity of advertisements.

What would interest people?
