"I Write Like" meme is a scam.

I had already deduced from observation that it appeared to be either random or just using simplistic keyword (or lack-of-keyword) algorithms, so I went no farther. Making Light went farther and discovered that it's just bait for a vanity press masquerading as a real publisher.

So if you can, go back and either delete your I Write Like posts, or at least edit the links so they're getting nothing -- no hits, no referrals, etc. -- from you.

Addendum/update to my Harry Potter/Methods of Rationality post

... apparently the author is actually an AI and rational thinking expert and the fic has a purpose, for teaching methods of rational thinking.

This does explain a number of the Slightly Off aspects of the fic -- it has that Atlas Shrugged vibe to it, but is unfortunately overlaid on the Potterverse so it doesn't have the unity of purpose that Atlas Shrugged has.

I'm informed that Harry v2.0 doesn't become more likeable as time goes on, alas. I would have liked to have read the actual fic that would come from those basic assumptions but that didn't have an axe to grind OTHER than that basic question.
