Writer's Block: Beep, Bop, Boop

"Moon Landing", a demonstration at some computer open-house we visited when I was quite young. Had a stylized moon lander drifting over the moon surface, and you had a limited amount of fuel to use to stop your motion and land safely. There were a LOT of people crowded around to use it, but me and my brother got several turns because we were quite young.

The first COMMERCIAL videogame I ever played was "Pong", and I loved it.

PSTPWD Posting: To Duel the Gorgon

As I have in every year since it began, I hereby participate in Pixel-Stained Technopeasant Wretch Day.

The following short story (or, perhaps, excerpt from a novel not yet written but only implied by the excerpt) was originally written in response to a contention (on the Usenet group rec.arts.sf.written) that one could not write a true science-fiction story featuring a basilisk or gorgon or other thing that turned people to stone with a glance. Whether I actually SUCCEEDED in doing so is a matter of debate -- some said yes, some said not even close -- but I felt the result was actually a better story than I had first thought. So I've cleaned it up a bit, tweaked some material, and hereby present it for your viewing pleasure.

I think I would, as well. I'm tempted to write more in the implied world; a lot of background is sitting there waiting to be explored.

PSTPWD Posting: Stuff of Legends, teaser chapters

This year I'm not doing a marathon posting of buttloads of stuff like I did last year (32 posts in one day). But in addition to the short "To Duel the Gorgon", I'll also post a couple of chapters of a new story that I will finish one day, if I get to write the OTHER material in the universe. Because yes, this DOES take place in the Digital Knight universe... but some years later (about 15 total, I think).
