Anatomy of a Spam...
Sep. 15th, 2013 10:13 pmWell, here's a new one on me. Got one of the typical spams that websites often get -- a generic "ooh, found your site, really interesting, good ideas, I'll definitely bookmark it" -- but with one huge, glaring exception:
The spammer had somehow failed to complete what I presume is a script to actually generate the specific spam message, so the message actually contained the script WITH ALL POSSIBLE CHOICES embedded in it!
It's an interesting look inside the way these stupid things are designed, so I post it here...

As you can see, it's actually quite a few different types of messages, all with the same types of customizing options.
It's really interesting that these things still use the simplistic Mad-Libs approach to generating multiple messages. And somewhat depressing that they must, somehow, still work on some people.
