This morning I go downstairs to discover my basement is flooded. Again. Sump pump AND backup have given up the ghost. I knew they were getting old, and one of my planned expenses when the tax refund came in was to get new ones.

So they had to die NOW.

And even more ironically annoying...

... the main sump pump is not technically DEAD. It just doesn't trigger all the time. I can nudge it into triggering, and it will continue working. For some not predictable number of cycles. Then it stops and I have to go down and nudge it again,

On the positive side, it is at least draining the basement now.
