... Paramount and CBS have apparently dropped their suit! It is possible this is premature -- it's not an official statement from CBS/Paramount -- but it appears to come from a reasonable source.
This has very interesting implications with respect to future fan-productions in not just Trek but other media associated with Paramount/CBS, at the least. Depending on how the decision was made, it may also imply a tacit concession of the idea that after some amount of time, the people who have perpetuated a fandom may indeed have some sort of intellectual, if not financial, stake in the material.
If so, this could open the door to reviving the public domain from its moribund status (which was a large part of what I discussed earlier in this context).
