Date: 2010-05-14 05:41 pm (UTC)Oh yes! I started writing fanfic at 12 and several! years later am still writing it... including for the first show I was ff'ing. I don't usually ff books, more anime shows, but a lot of the same stuff applies... including the "...it wouldn't put me down" part.
Legality... everyone I know who writes fanfic makes sure to have the disclaimer of 'I do not own any of this', and if you're on an ML or equivalent that does a lot of fanfic writing (as I am) it's an understood thing. We're not out for fame or $$; we write about these chara because we WANT to, just because, and many people write just for themselves, no one else ever sees the stuff... but they write nonethless.
Will I ever stop writing fanfic? Most likely not. :)
