I hate power outages at night. I can't sleep without my white noise. Worse, being jolted out of sleep (and then having to let a crying 5-year-old know what's going on) upsets my stomach and makes it hard to go back to sleep.

Given my current condition, I *really* *neeed* that sleep.

Plus of course I always worry now that the sump pump backup will fail and I'll have another flood in the basement.

I've noticed that creative people have issues with good, solid, sleep. I know from experience that it's hard to come by and brutal when missed. It gets worse with age BTW, just so you know and can be tormented by that knowledge.

And of course I'm sitting here thinking of a design for a sump pump that can tell you when it's about to fail and I can't fall asleep.

Bastard! :)

White and pink noise are two different things. Try both. I suspect you're probably more a/efected by low end noise but it's a guess.

There's an app for that for mobile phones. A coworker showed it to me. Jungle, crickets, fan, air conditioner, thunderstorm, etc.

I have a CPAP with UPS backup - I don't need any more noise.

You may have an inefficient CPAP.

The new generation are much, much, much quieter than the old ones. I have a DeVilbiss which is about as loud as the ceiling fan.

You really need that sleep. I hope the outage was brief in duration.

Feel better soon.

The exhaust port at the mask makes most of the noise on mine.

I've never thought about white noise or pink noise, but I can't sleep without a small fan running. I always attributed that to my years on submarines, where if the fans (ventilation system) stop for any reason, it's an Engineering Casualty that needs immediate attention, and I was in the Engineering Department (a "nuke").

If my fan goes off, I wake up.

It takes me a few days to adjust and fall asleep in autumn once I shut off the a.c..

Hope you feel better, Ryk.
