Map of Zarathan, the world of Phoenix Rising...

Randy Asplund, the artist who did the map, has posted it up so I'm linking to it here.

It's really fun to see my world -- exactly as I originally drew it, based on Kathleen's Much Better redrawing of it -- there in a high-quality map, waiting to go into my own book.

I first drew what became the main continent of Zarathan back in 1978. It's changed since then, but the basic physical outline has remained pretty much the same for 30+ years.

I note several "impact" features. Hell, & Aegia seem pretty definite.

Skysand is more interesting in that it's a partial. But the curve is still really suggestive.

Several mountain ranges are a bit on the straight side, but... given that you've got gods playing around... :-)

Wish the image was bigger. Hard to read some of it.

Aegia isn't, it's a tectonic plate feature, as are the Khalal and Firewall mountains and some others. The Ice Peaks are the result of a magical oopsie. Hell is the same only more like a magical super-nuke. The Krellin mountains are an impact feature, as is the White Blade State and probably Olthamion. The Cataclysm Ridge is sort of a magically-enhanced tectonic feature.

Oh that is a cool map and gives a real good feel for just how thought out your world really is. :D Now if it was just higher res. :)

Sorry -- been out of the loop -- "waiting to go into my own book" -- does that mean Phoenix is being published? *crosses fingers*
