Thanks for everyone weighing in on Borderlands, etc....

... Looks like it won't be for me.

But I may try Mass Effect 2 (ME, the original, isn't available on the PS3).

However, I'm going to have to put a bigger HD in my PS3; it's pretty much full now.

At least poke around on the internet and find out the story of ME1 before you play ME2. The second game won't make a lot of sense without knowing the backstory.

I think the "previously on Mass Effect..." interactive comic included in the PS3 version covers the basics; I know it allows you to make a bunch of critical decisions from the first game so that ME2 can build a profile. Still, it's a pity Ryk won't feel the awe I felt when I met Vigil in the first game and discovered The Terrible Truth.

-- Steve is still enthralled with the "tower climb" mission in the first game's finale.

For me, it was the conversation with [SPOILER] on Virmire that was the big shock-and-awe moment of the first game.

Apologies for the post Necro, but you may want to wait until November 7 - to commemorate the coincidental fact that Nov 7 has the same initials as the 'elite' class of N7 operatives in the game, Bioware is releasing the entire trilogy in one pack for PS3 - or if you have 2 and 3, then you can just pick up a stand-alone version of 1 on the PSN.
