For those who haven't heard the news...

... on Saturday, Baen Books will become available as eBooks on Amazon.com.

This will eliminate the questions/comments of "why can't I get your book on Kindle" and, hopefully, significantly increase sales!

I had not heard about this. I hope it does increase your sales.

That's great news! I love Baen books, and I love my Kindle.

The problem is that UK kindle owners can't buy from Amazon.com, so I hope they are available on Amazon.co.uk as well. Of course you can already buy kindle compatible ebooks direct from Baen - which I have done from time to time.

My son is bringing me a cheap bottom-of-the-range kindle from the USA so I'll be able to buy direct from amazon.com with it because it's registered to his USian address.

Just curious: will there be whatever standard Kindle DRM exists? Didn't see anything on the Baen site.

Whether or not there is DRM, i do hope the new market does wonders for you.

No Baen does not believe in DRM so the books will not be sold DRMed.

I knew the eBooks had been DRM free for ages: i didn't know if Amazon & the Kindle forced DRM. Glad to hear Baen could stand their ground.

I don't know if I'm "YAY!" yet or not. I've owned my Kindle and my Nook for about two weeks, and all my books pass through my Kindle PC space. I haven't successfully migrated my books in .EPUB format to the Nook, yet. For the Kindle, I downloaded in "Kindle" format (.PRC/.MOBI) and hooked up the USB cable and slid them over, no sweat.

On the DRM side, I don't know for sure but I think DRM is up to the Publisher.

I had no problem doing the same for my Fictionwise eBooks until yesterday, when Fictionwise pretty much went out of business. My books were supposed to transfer to Barnes & Noble, but so far...

Good, and I hope you get both boosted sales and enjoy the 25% increase in royalty that Baen is giving you. :)

Congrats! My books sell more on kindle than any other format.

have found many good books/authors there to buy in the real world of paperbooks

i hope baen sells enough books there to make it worth it
