While I've never read the Nero Wolfe stories (my mystery reading tended to be confined to Ed McBain's 37th Precinct series and obsessive re-reads of The Seven Percent Solution) I was rather fond of the AMC series based on them that aired a few years back.

Did you ever watch the TV show (mini-series?) on what I think was A&E? If yes, did you think it captured the correct tone? I almost went digging for the books at the local library.

AHA. I think I subconsciously picked up on the similarity of Jason Wood's voice to Archie Goodwin's. It's hard to describe, but definitely present.
