My first bestseller list!!

I hit #10 on the paperback list for Locus (data gathered, apparently, in October)!

Okay, so Locus focuses on specialty SF bookstores, but still, look at this list!

PAPERBACKS
1) Night Watch, Terry Pratchett (HarperTorch) 1-
2) Exile's Honor, Mercedes Lackey (DAW) 1-
3) Dune: The Butlerian Jihad, Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson (Tor) 21
4) American Gods, Neil Gaiman (HarperPerennial) 137
5) War of Honor, David Weber (Baen) 1-
6) The Sky So Big and Black, John Barnes (Tor) 1-
7) Burndive, Karin Lowachee (Warner Aspect) 1-
8) The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara: Morgawr, Terry Brooks (Ballantine Del Rey) 25
9) Cryptonomicon, Neal Stephenson (Avon) 3-
10) Digital Knight, Ryk E. Spoor (Baen) 1-

Only one other new author (Karin Lowachee, with her second book) on that list -- and all the rest are big names! Like, my name is on the same list with people like Weber, Stephenson, Brooks, Pratchett, and Lackey!!

Sweet!

I didn't know you were out in paperback -- did Baen do "Digital Knight" as direct to ppbk without a hardcover? Whichever, it's very interesting -- I suspect your visibility on rec.arts.sf.written has something to do with this -- but also promising.

congrats!

It's a great feeling. I have some contributions to some oreilly technical books -- it was cool to see it orderable via amazon.

Speaking of amazon here is your book! So far all great reviews :-)

Congrats.

Now if you could have just bumped Terry Brooks off.........

Congrats!

(I had paused from my re-reading of Night Watch to check email and saw in an Amber post that you had an LJ, and there it was again.)

And this looks like a real list, of actual sales ... (I once got onto the Canadian college radio album list without selling a single album there. (One station listed my thing as #1 for a week and #9 for the next week. I suspect whoever filled out the form for listing things just took the album titles from a stack of CDs that people like me had sent in. Either that, or they really loved it until they realized I wasn't Canadian.)) So doubly congrats, and have fun with the money.

Congrats!

Congrats Ryk! That is so awesome! I just started a LJ myself (no posts yet) and came across yours! How about adding me to your friends list and I will try to figure out how to do the same! *g* -Steve
