Getting a new computer finally turned my old Word program unusable, so I had to get a new one... and discovered that computers are doing away with CD/DVD drives now, so I had to get one of those for me and Kathy!

Anyway, I've now caught up up by posting Chapter 13, Chapter 14, and Chapter 15 of Paradigms Lost, and Chapter 3 of Polychrome on my site!

isn't that something..

First, apple dropped equipping their puter's with disk drives, and now cd/dvd. It does have a usb port for a memory stick? Wow, I am thinking of installing a Blu-Ray drive, just for the extra storage space. I have way too many DVD's around here.
Good luck with the new computer and software. I upgraded to office 2013 from 2010. now I find out, either of those programs won't run on anything earlier than windows 7.
If I had it all to do over again, I think I'd keep office 2010. 2013 looks a lot like windows 8 operating system.

Mac based?

As for the office software, at home, I use Libre Office which costs nothing. I do understand having to make sure your software is compatible with the publishers and the day job, since the writing doesn't pay that well, yet.

office 2008!!!

you lucky dog! I've had office 97 which I used just about everyday. and then office 2003. that was ok. but 2013.....like I said, it looks like windows 8 and really seems like it want you to use their cloud stuff.
enjoy!
( as a kind of p.s., I also bough Adobe acrobat 11 standard. it's really over the top as far as expense goes, but it's saved my bacon many many times. it's worth it to me.)

Rent it, dont' own it...

what a concept. when I bought my office, I had to argue with the Microsoft folks to sell me a DVD of the program! wow, they've certainly changed over the years. dropping titles left and right, and making it difficult at best to re-install the OS. hey, look, if they don't want our business, that's fine with me. there are other companies out there, not cloud based, who do. Enjoy your new "puter".

I noticed a small typo in Chapter 14: "He did give a small smile at that. “Good. I hate people who don’t cooperate. You might actually get out of this alive, if Domingo doesn’t screw up.” He punched in the numbers, and one goon picked up the extension and held the receiver to my hear." Last word should be "ear." I'm 98% sure you're either already aware, but it jumped out at me so much (and I couldn't forget it) that I had to say something.
