Well, I still recall one of my thoughts at the time (shortly after the planes hit the second tower, I was watching live coverage).

Mind you, I was wrong about it, but I did wonder if this was a "Reichstag Fire" situation.

Alas, while it wasn't a plot, they *used* it the same way Germany's government used the Reichstag fire...
