How is it that [livejournal.com profile] lwe's Kickstarter for Tom Derringer and the Aluminum Airship is only halfway funded??  A little more than a week to go!

I would guess part of it is publicity-related. Usually when a campaign has publicity things - interview on a blog, podcast, review on a website - you post about it as an update and link to it. (Also, the holiday card thing isn't very thematic for the book, and throws me off every time I come across it in the rewards - my firm belief is that the cheap rewards should be $1 support and then the ebook.)

But my base figuring is that he's not pushing the publicity. Heck, getting James Nicoll to mention it on his livejournal would probably be good for some attention.

I honestly had forgotten he had done any other kickstarters - I'm not particularly interested in him, but I am generally interested in kickstarters and other forms of crowdfunding.

Looking back through his updates on the other kickstarter, it looks like he didn't - or at least he doesn't seem to link to anything in the updates. But he does seem a bit more involved in the kickstarter - there's some 13 updates during the kickstarter's lifespan on the older project, and he's just reached 2 on the new one. Part of that is because the new project is being so anemic, though.

I don't know. Either his fans who supported the first book aren't interested in the new book he's done, or they're upset with the way he handled the VA book, or else they don't know he's doing another kickstarter. It could be either of those, but I suspect publicity may be a big part of it. He's making about the same average money per backer - $35/back with VA, $29/backer with this book - so he needs more backers, and that makes me think he needs more publicity.

I mean, Polychrome is Oz-based, and you got 100 more backers than he has now!
