I understand, even if I do not live in, that point of view. I still feel that doing so is a victory for the bad guys; they win, and the very attitude you describe can't be FOUGHT if people don't, well, fight it. And sometimes choosing to fight bad societal attitudes is a risk, but these SOB's can't be allowed to keep getting away with it. It's rewarding them for being assholes or worse.
I'm no fighter, but my feeling would be that running just makes me more vulnerable. In this day and age you can't actually hide from such assholes for long, so if they're willing to actually DO anything, which makes more sense? Get caught in some hotel room, or in a friend's house (causing your friends to be endangered as well, something I would consider an immoral choice unless you had a damn good reason to believe your friends could handle danger vastly better), or in your house that you know better than any other place on Earth and could presumably defend better than some other random location?
Yeah, making that choice might end poorly, but I think the other choice -- today, with all the tools available to track people, and the fact that the enemy is composed of people who actually can and will use such tools -- has about as much chance to end poorly, too. If you'll be victim-blamed either way, hell, choose the one that gives you a better chance.
