Had a full physical yesterday...
May. 20th, 2015 10:07 am... aside from being overweight (duh) it was all good news. My cholesterol levels are all excellent, my blood pressure fine, my asthma's under control, my blood tests all good except marginal levels of Vitamin D and potassium, the latter of which can be influenced by asthma medications that increase cell uptake of potassium. So I should eat more oranges for potassium (I don't like bananas, the usual go-to for that) and look for things that have good vitamin D. Other than that, I appear to be in good shape!

Date: 2015-05-20 03:27 pm (UTC)I have been aware of the potassium - banana thing because of asthma medications for a while, and I'm fine with bananas but I have only recently been given vit D tablets to take for a month because of deficiency. Never heard about it before that.
Ah well. We are all perfectly splendid, yes?

Date: 2015-05-20 03:28 pm (UTC)For potassium, my go-to in summer is V-8 juice. Yogurt is good, because milk is high in potassium. When I am craving the potatoes I'm allergic to, it's usually because I need potassium, and a V-8 or some raisenets will usually work to stop the craving.

Date: 2015-05-22 06:31 pm (UTC)Strangely enough, all my over-the-counter meds and supplements are way more expensive than most of my prescription meds. I take Niacin and B-12, Centrum Silver Geezer Vitamins and Krill Oil, none of which are cheap. With insurance, most of my prescriptions are U$4 at Walmart.
Maybe your doctor could prescribe a D vitamin supplement?
