Date: 2017-07-21 02:06 am (UTC)I am reminded of the Ramayana, where Demon-King Ravanna is throwing his weight around--one of his brothers has defeated the nominal king of the gods, Indra, Vaish-Ravanna is a conquered vassal, Brahma is under a geas not to mess with him, and as far as he knows Vishnu is nowhere to be found, and he's feeling unstoppable--so he tries to challenge Shiva. Shiva's guard, Nandi, warns Ravanna that Shiva is idling with his wife and is not to be disturbed. Ravanna persists, so Nandi kicks his ass and curses his kingdom to be burned by a monkey.
Lesson learned: even if you are the ultimate bad-ass demon-king, don't annoy the God of Destruction. Even his minions will kick your ass. (I strongly suspect Beerus's and Whis's roles in the story are based on Shiva and Nandi.)
