Well, you can re-read them in a year or three.

Me, now that I have a library card again, and the ability to check out ebooks online, I'm checking out a few things that I had recommended. Currently working thru The Queen's Thief series. Hard part is waiting for copies to become available.

Got a list of other things to look into when I get the chance.

You review is pretty much spot on, however I am really into wines (going to 6 wine tastings per month) and love cats, so have been enamored of the liaden universe since the start.

I am very fond of Space Opera where the protaganist does not save the universe but just makes it a little better.

I confess to never finding cats particularly fascinating (though kittens are cute) and vastly preferring dogs, and the widespread SF cat worship is inexplicable to me.

My deepest condolences. [Tongue planted quite firmly in cheek here.]

I really should see about getting hold of this series and moving it way up on the TBR Ranges sometime.

Also a huge fan of this series.

And also one of the (apparently very few) who simply Do Not Get the cat worship that's rampant in SF writing. I have nothing against cats in particular (except when they mess up my flower beds), but 4 of 6 people in my family are allergic, including myself, and it's not worth it to get closer. Why they've become the talismans that people can't live without, I do not know.

I hadn't noticed that about the drinking. I don't drink, either, and have very little interest in it. So I kind of glaze over that parts of pretty much every book I read unless it's genuinely a plot point.

I'm in the 'don't drink/don't like the taste' camp - but what I -like- about the various drinks that the characters indulge in is that the types of drink are used as another way to describe the characters & another descriptor of the culture.

As for magic cats? I love children-with-fur no matter whether they are cats, dogs, ferrets, raccoons - and treat them as another alien race.
