My only political post of this season.

So Obama is President and he's also got a Democratically controlled House and Senate.

He has the clearest mandate of any President in a long time -- since at least Ronald Reagan, I think.

So here it is, Barack. You have the best possible setup for being President. For at least two years you can't even lose control of Congress. Go to it. Show us what you can do.

Because in the current economic and political mood, they'll turn on you real fast if you can't get something working soon.

Really, it would scare me if I were Obama. Right now is likely the highest point in the next four years. He has nearly unlimited support, and no failures yet. It's all downhill from here. The failed expectations (because they are *so* *high*), the missteps (everyone makes them at first), the serious mistakes are all in the future.

I wonder how long the press honeymoon will last.

The press honeymoon will last until one of two things happens:

1. Obama disappoints the press that worked so hard to get him elected, and they turn on him, or

2. They realize "flyover country" really and truly has no use for them anymore, and they try desperately to regain the credibility they lost pushing Obama so hard. I don't think they'll succeed--but they'll try.

The press wasn't pushing Obama that hard. Hell, they often bent over backwards to avoid pointing out just how badly McCain and Palin were screwing up.

Obama has good reason to be nervous about a lot of things. But the Secret Service has got to be going *nuts*. He's probably the the biggest target they've ever had to protect.

He's the absolute *worst nightmare* of a lot of the nut cases on the right wing fringe. Especially when you add ib the stuff they believe about him (that's he's Muslim, that he wasn't born in the US, etc)

OMGROFL - the media are as liberal as the megacorporations that own them.
