Now it's the Grandest Old Fan of them all, Forrest J. Ackerman. "Forry" was perhaps the living SOUL of fandom for years. There is, as far as I know, no one even vaguely like him available to "take his place", if such a thing was possible, which it really isn't.

I wish I could have met him once. But once more one of the greats is gone.

Where's my bloody immortality serum?!

I still mourn Hal Clement. He was at every single SF convention I'd ever attended up until he passed away, and I still find myself looking for him each and every time I go to one. What a great, nice, wonderful guy he was. )-:

Oh, my gosh, yes. What a sweet, sweet soul he was. I was so honored when he fell asleep in my Con Suite. If you were running programming at a con, he was one of the best people you could have.

Rusty Hevelin, Dave Kyle and Fred Pohl are still with us. That cheers me up.

If it helps, he got to celebrate his 92nd birthday. That's better than most of us get.

Bugger. Bugger. Bugger.

May he rest in peace. He did so many amazing things for so many.
