I SAID STOP WITH THE DYING ALREADY!
Dec. 5th, 2008 08:07 pmNow it's the Grandest Old Fan of them all, Forrest J. Ackerman. "Forry" was perhaps the living SOUL of fandom for years. There is, as far as I know, no one even vaguely like him available to "take his place", if such a thing was possible, which it really isn't.
I wish I could have met him once. But once more one of the greats is gone.
Where's my bloody immortality serum?!

Date: 2008-12-06 03:57 am (UTC)I saw him twice. The first time I was in my teens and cornered him for something like an hour and a half and probably bored the poor guy to TEARS, but he was kind and courteous and never let my geeky self know.
The second time was at Albacon, the last convention he was at before he passed away. I was able to thank him for putting up with me and let him know how much I appreciated his work as well.
