We will be going to Worldcon (Noreascon) in Boston at the beginning of September; got our memberships, paid for the hotel. I don't know if they're going to squeeze me into any actual events -- I sent in their form but I haven't heard back yet. But I'll still be around to see people, and I hope I meet a bunch of y'all out there.

So everyone knows, we are NOT staying in the official hotel; I waited a bit long, and the prices I saw on there were, well, unreal. Instead, we're staying at the Hotel@MIT, which is a very neato hotel and not far away from the Con locale.

Hotel@MIT is very cool. be sure to avail yourself of all the fun stuff in Central Square (about 4 blocks from you) - just walk up to Massachusetts Ave and turn left.

Good god, $300/month! Right now we're paying $1525/month for our two bedroom apartment here in Boston, but we're about to move to Iowa where our mortgage payment for an house is LESS THAN HALF that. I'll miss Boston, but I'm looking forward to slashing all our bills.

Hotel@MIT is cool, and yes, there is lots of fun stuff close by to do and enjoy. (I live in Cambridge not far from the hotel, so I'm commuting to Worldcon...I already have a T pass.)

I hope you have been to the MIT Museum already. If you haven't, or if you have and want to go back while you're here, let me know... I can get a guest in free!

If you're going to be using transit, I recommend getting the weekly combo pass (rather than the 7 day "visitor pass" which costs much more: $16.50 vs $35!) as long as you can line up a Sunday-Saturday week for it. The #1 bus runs right near Hotel@MIT and straight across the river to near the Hynes area.

(Nearer the con I should blog a few suggestions like that for folks coming to town...hmm.)

Are you likely to post pictures anywhere? My travelling will be severely curtailed for the foreseeable future, but pictures are enough of a placebo that the twitching doesn't get too bad ;)
