... in one of those old "collection of Forteana" books -- I think it might have been Edwards' "Stranger Than Science" -- a bit about human beings who generated high-voltage electricity and/or powerful magnetic fields. We're not talking "scuff across the carpet and startle the cat with static", we're talking "Uncle Fester lightbulb time".

Any modern occurrences of these, and debunking or explaining of same?

I've seen a documentary which covered a couple of things:
people who drain batteries they are near very fast,
and a guy who could handle conducting 120V current to light lightbulbs and such.
