Waiting for HP movie to start. Just saw INCREDIBLY lame ad trying to convince people that CN not playing cartoons isn't, in fact, stupid and an example of a company shooting itself in the foot. Oh, and the pre movie ad-show sucketh mightily overall.

Wow, I had to go look up news on this, since I haven't had cable TV in forever. Talk about stupid ideas.

MTV: We're the channel that shows music videos! ... OK, not really.

Sci-Fi/Syfy: We're the channel that shows science fiction! ... OK, not really.

CN: We're the channel that shows cartoons! ... OK, not really.

On the other hand, so far as I know Disney Channel is still holding firm to it's artistic vision of showing only programs that Disney makes money off of.

Well, I dunno, lately they've been showing a lot of Marvel Comics programming. Do they actually make cash off that?

Yep - it is cheap to air and they can sell enough ads to make money.

I think they're trying to be more like the Disney channel, which is really, really awful. I hope someone at CN comes to their senses.

Also, if you go to the theater with friends, sneak out to use the bathroom during the ads - your friends save your seat for you and you don't have to watch ads. yay!

When the theatre is showing unwanted ads, Mr. Zune is my friend. (Though others may prefer to turn to Mr. iPod.)

-- Steve does use some pretty mighty noise-blocking earbuds, though, so it may not work as well with those awful hunks of drek that come in the box.
