This is an image of the spaceship -- technically, the first Human starship -- Holy Grail, from my forthcoming novel Grand Central Arena (Baen, April 27th 2010). The model and image was done by Keith Morrison, who did other excellent models for Boundary and has been working on some others for Threshold. He does this really, REALLY well. It's my wallpaper because it's so cool. :)

My wallpaper is boring, so I'll describe it rather than post it: imagine a cloudy sky. Darken it. Increase the contrast. Bingo, that's it.

It is in no way cool or interesting; it is guaranteed to not distract me.

I love aircraft, so I have a mixture of hundreds of aircraft pictures and fantasy art. My wallpaper changes every 15 minutes, so this is just what happened to be on screen at the time.

Nope. Pure zero-g spacecraft. Based, in this case, on the description and what Ryk wanted. The overall shape was his, I only added a few of the minor details.

Author wants classic Buck Rogers/Doc Smith retro, that's what author gets. Just as an example, the sweeping supports for the sensor pods were made that way because I specifically wanted to add in something that might remind people of the classic spaceship fins.

No, for looks (partially handwaved as a requirement of the Sandrisson Drive coil geometries). It's a mostly post-scarcity society and making a ship look pretty isn't significant in expense.

Note that Grand Central Arena is NOT the sequel to Boundary, so it's not hard SF; semi-hard space opera. Threshold, sequel to Boundary, will come out about a month after GCA and is hard SF (well, as hard as I can manage, anyway).

My wallpaper, on this computer at the moment, is a solid color. Kind of a dark blue.

I sometimes do have wallpapers, but since I invariably cover the entire desktop with windows it seems mildly pointless to make the background interesting.

Mine is boring. It's the Win2k default because I never bothered changing it. Since I run most apps full screen and switch between them wallpaper is pretty much a waste for me.

I'm tempted to do screen caps of the old Mac desktop and maybe of my Kubuntu desktop.
