The World Needs More Schlock!

And that's why everyone who reads my LJ should go over to Schlock Mercenary and make sure you buy something from Howard (or give him money, if you prefer). Howard produces some of the best SF I've ever read, in the form of a webcomic which manages to be funny, serious, hard-edged SF, and space opera all in one. That's a hell of a combination (especially, for those who know me, the "funny"; I have a hard-to-please sense of humor).

Why particularly now? Because Howard just decided to make Schlock his real career. And, just in case you didn't know, webcomics are generally NOT a particularly lucrative field. And I owe Howard a big plug here because he gave me one a while back for DK.

So go out and support Schlock! The plasma cannon you save may be your own.

If/When I get money I'll be sure to donate. However, I have faith this will work. After all, the cartoonists who do Something Positive and Errant Story got the necessary cash out of their readers, and Pete Abrams, Fred "Piro" Gallager, and Gabe & Tycho have been going full time for a while now.

So, if you've got a big enough audience, you too can go full time as a WebCartoonist.
