... refilling my mug with water, I dropped it and it shattered on the floor.

This is notable because the mug in question was unique and irreplaceable: it was one of the little promo freebies I got, waaaay back in the early '90s, from Wizards of the Coast and had the first print of their new logo (dark background with a shooting star over the "Wizards"). Wizards saved my life, so to speak, more than once; my early investment of a small amount of time paid huge dividends to me over the years, and I will always remember the company fondly (even though it is now a shadow of what it was, a piece of a larger corporation that doesn't really understand the relevant industry).

At several points, starting from when they hadn't even published anything; I was one of those Peter asked to go over the first-draft version of "The Primal Order" and provide feedback. They were going to pay me ~$25 for that, so I said "I'd just end up buying a pizza or something. Gimme $25 of your stock and, if anything happens, I make money, and if nothing happens, I'm not out anything that matters."

That worked out ...well, to put it mildly.

I also worked on the TPO conversion notes, a couple supplements, and started writing a couple stories for them which didn't end up getting published for a couple reasons not related to their overall qwality.
