In the comments of the original article, someone notes that they used to boil water for tea this way: fill the cooling jacket with clean water, fire a couple hundred rounds into no-man's land, and presto! -- hot water.

Personally, I think I enjoy the cognitive dissonance of machine-gun-prepared tea over machine-gun-cooked bacon.
