Pixar's done it again. A marvelous movie, combining superheroes with a "family under stress" motif, and the big villain... is the world's most obsessive fanboy. I loved the heroes, the plotline, and the animation. The major battle was really well done, and the earlier ones, showcasing the main characters, were just plain FUN. The nods to other comics and genres were extensive and marvelously well set up.

The next one, however, looks to be Pixar's first failure. Maybe they'll pull it off somehow, but I'm VERY unhopeful.

(unwillingly, I must say that the preview for Episode III Star Wars looked very cool. Of course, that was true of Ep I previews too. Undoubtedly the movie itself will suck like a black hole in a vacuum cleaner.)

Failure? I thought Cars looked interesting, and it will have widespread appeal in the "red states" since it's about NASCAR.

I'm not so sure. The preview for CARS (or whatever it's called) left me completely cold. But I only ever went to one NASCAR race (with my dad and my brothers when we were kids), and I found it mostly quite boring.

On the other hand, the preview for Episode III also left me with no interest in seeing the movie. It also left me scratching my head. Apparently, the empire rises to power, rules with an iron grip, and is overthrown all within one generation. Not much of an empire, if you ask me.

Didn't think of that...I'm not a car race fan, so I don't really understand the appeal in that much detail.

IS THIS YOU----RYK?????

Cars does look awful.

What I saw of the Incredibles looked good but then events occured and I went home, somewhat smokier than when I set out.

My preferences do not seem to play a role so there is no point in caring one way or the other.

Huh. I strongly suspect you'd know me, were we to meet on the street. I was a customer of yours, off and on, from something like age twelve.
