More rankomancy!

It appears -- as one would hope -- that Threshold's release re-energized some interest in Boundary; for the third time in the last week or so that I've checked, Boundary ranks higher than either GCA OR Threshold.

No, I plan to leave them all there marooned on the icy radiation-saturated moon! MUAAAHAHAHAH!

If you *REALLY* did that, it would be proof of a truly cold hearted nature (or a publisher that told you to *STOP*). Glad that PORTAL is already under contract and I'm hoping that there will be more of the archeological/paleoarcheological "stuff" that I so loved in BOUNDARY. (Ok, so I'm a science geek who more prefers the exploratory to the techno-thriller stories most of the time. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!)
Re: PORTAL...
Date: 2010-07-15 12:07 pm (UTC)The "publisher didn't give you a contract" is, alas, by far the most likely reason for a series being left without closure. It's very rare (though not completely unheard of) for the author to be the one deciding he/she isn't going to continue.
There won't be a HUGE amount of archaeological stuff in Portal except mostly offstage, because the main problem -- as anyone reading Threshold knows -- is going to be getting Our Heroes to SURVIVE. They have a lot of work to do, especially since one of the heroes is separated from the others in a derelict vessel and no one else knows he's alive yet.
But I have a few surprises there. Also, assuming Threshold sells reasonably well, Eric and I will contract with Baen for at least one more book in the series because we haven't even reached Enceladus yet. :)
