... are here.

The fact is that there's been a lot of crap spewed about what the government's been doing since the last Presidential election. While there are some things Obama's done/not done that I really do not like (most notably he re-authorized Patriot rather than let that obscenity die a swift death), he's done a lot of things as well as could be expected (given that he *IS* a politician, not the Pure Hero that some of the prior voters hoped for and that, truthfully, would have crashed and burned INSTANTLY after election). This list points out a lot of the complete and utter MISinformation that's put around to make him (and his associated political allies) look bad.

I'm not particularly in favor of one party; in fact, I want ALL the parties abolished. But as long as this is an election focused on two parties, I want the least-damaging one to remain in place.

A lot of those "truths" are nothing of the sort. They're liberal talking points with a serious lack of supporting facts.

I'd agree with abolishing the parties if we could figure out a way to really do so (they'd just reappear in different forms, since banding together to pursue common political goals is an inescapable human behavior), and I thought it would do any good.

I think we'd do better to add more structural impediments to building (or maintaining) an entrenched political class. Serious lifetime term limits on political office, maybe. Making damn sure that ex-pols live and work and retire and get medical care on the same basis that everyone else does.

Ok, so give us the facts. Details, not generalities.

Look up the historical breakdown of Bush's deficits starting from 2001 to 2006, then notice what happened after 2006 when the Democrats took the Congress.

You either learn how to read between the numbers on statistics or you are fed the truth by others. There's no point in anybody telling you anything. Either you get it, or you are told by someone that you think "gets it".

The GOP has gone too far off the deep end for me to feel comfortable voting for any of them. It's gotten to the point where I view anybody who still identifies as a Republican as a window-licking loon until and unless they prove otherwise to my satisfaction.

I have a similar opinion on Obama's performance as you do. We can only hope he does better in the remainder of his term. I don't think McCain would have done as well.. hell, he'd probably have had a stroke by now, leaving us with Caribou Barbie in the big chair and that would have been a disaster of biblical proportions.

I don't know much about most political things, but as it's my field and I've been stuck studying it incessantly since it was passed, I do feel I can repeat what professionals in the field are saying: Obama's new health care reform, while not perfect, is an incredibly good thing. The former system was not set up to be able to control costs, the extremely fragmented free market has been trying and failing for a while, and this just might reduce a few costs and reduce uninsurance.

There's no point eradicating any party, when you can't even tell fact from propaganda fiction.

There's a real difference between illusion and truth.
