I've heard there's an immunization for pneumonia; I'll take this as evidence that I should probably avail myself of it.

Yes, there is a pneumonia shot. I have had it. If you get it when you're middle-aged, you never have to have it again. Ever.

Yes - get the vaccine - and get the one for shingles, too.

[Have everyone you know who has ever had chickenpox to get that one. Shingles is months of agony with a 1/4 chance of retaining the pain after the sores heal.]

It is... too late for me. On the shingles, that is. Worst pain I ever had, so bad that my mind has blocked out most of that time. I have a dead region on the side of my face where the shingles killed off the nerves. Apparently doing so by dropping hydrofluoric acid on it one cell at a time.

I've had a pneumonia jab. Unlike the flu-jab it's a once in a lifetime thing and there were no ill effects. They recommend them to folks who already have some kind of ailment (asthma would qualify I guess). I got mine because of diabetes.
