Congratulations to all, especially James Nicoll, Howard Tayler (twice! For Schlock Mercenary and Writing Excuses), and Larry Correia (JWC award).

And once more they have failed to recognize my genius. I suppose I must go and plot my revenge against the Fools at the Academy.

Hugo Award NOMINEE means you get through the nominating PROCESS. Anyone can nominate anyone and their dog, but the actual announced Hugo Award Nominees are those that get enough votes to make the cut to the shortlist. You're not a Hugo Nominee if you don't get on the shortlist, which takes some number of votes.

How many votes I may have gotten is unknown, and won't be known until after the Hugo Awards are given (they then release all the data of which works got what votes).

Well, nutz. Of course, this means I won't have quite so many conflicts when I vote. It's really scary how many people I know who are either nominated this year or brought home rockets in previous years.

Except for Chris Garcia, of course. He's becoming the Susan Lucci of Fan writing. He's simply stunning in his "Six Time Hugo Loser" t-shirt.

I know I nominated GCA. I wonder how close you came to being on the ballot. We will find out in August, after the winners are announced. (It would be annoying to see GCA as the top of the missed list.)

Actually, that'd be fairly gratifying, but it would also have the unfortunate effect of making me wonder if I'll do better when my NEXT one gets released. :)

Making that list (at any level) will likely generate interest in your writing. It means that the small number of hugo nominators thought your writing was that good.

I did notice that they had over 1000 nomination ballots for the first time, so anything is possible. GCA was one of two novels I did nom for the novel category. (The other being Feed, which did make the ballot.)
