Worlds you want to visit...

Nicked from anghara , this site is looking for people to vote for the worlds one would most want to visit. Seems worth a vote at least, it's fun to think about the choices.

I chose Silverberg's Lord Valentine's Castle, Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber, and I could not be honest and leave out Grand Central Arena by yours truly; I constructed the Arena to be my distillation of sense of wonder, so it would be utterly ridiculous for me to leave it out.

I could visit Oz, for a vacation. When I was younger, the Urusei Yatsura universe (I'm not sure I have the energy to go there any more, but there's much to said for comedies - worlds where nothing all that awful ever really happens). Varley's Nine Worlds looks like a fun place in more eras than not. Some periods of Niven's Known Space. Narnia.

I can think of rather more places I'd like to go on brief shopping trips, for some toy or gimmick, but they're not necessarily places I'd enjoy spending time.

I looked at their site. They say "live there." There are a lot of places I'd love to visit, but very few where I'd prefer to live.

Barrayar, Komarr, and Beta Colony. Klein Station. I'd just love to attend the opera in Quaddiespace.

Tertius. Heinlein's Venuses or Marses (most of them), or Ganymede. Luna Free State.

There were a lot of nice planets in Anderson's Terran Empire.

Karres. Schmitz was a marvel. Where was it Telzey lived? Orado, Federation of the Hub.

Maybe a few days on Ringworld, or one of the other known space planets. Not long, though - there ain't no justice there.

Manticore, Sphynx, Gryphon, Grayson, Haven.

I could go on and on...
