I believe http://flickr.com/ is also free, and given the number of flickr-hosted pics another LJ-friend of mine puts in his entries, I'd say it works really well with live journal. :-)

There is also the free photo hosting on photos.yahoo.com, which is what I like to use for my public photo albums.

Either flickr or LJ has there own hosting now as well.

LJ has pic hosting for paid accounts (which you don't, unfortunately, have.)

The good thing about LJ pic hosting is that you can restrict viewing access of galleries to people on your flist, or certain filters of your friends list.
