Which is to say, they want to have all sorts of sensory systems on board ... and nothing quite beats a nice big telescope or two. Did it have a matching one on the underside?
Though where they ended up turned out to be much more exotic than they expected.
I love the look of the Grail, but out of curiosity, was there a functional reasons for the lovely curved, streamlined looking hull, or was it mainly aesthetic? As I recall, the Grail was not designed for atmosphere.
Always loved the look though, between that and the mass-driver tendrils, it had this technological sea creature thing going on.
Are you ever likely to try and get images done for ships like the Nebular Storm, or Odin? (or do you already have them, and I'm about to look kinda foolish :) )
Can anyone else see the picture Wasp linked? I'm getting a "Forbidden: You don't have permission to access /seawasp/pic/00018w86 on this server" error, repeatedly. I very rarely use pics in my LJ, so I don't even know if that's a sensible URL for LJ's image storage.
Personally (addressing the topic), I don't bother with desktop wallpaper at home or work, since it's submerged beneath a dozen overlapping applications. Similarly, the examples at Lifehacker Featured Desktop are pretty, but completely irrelevant to my work style. There must exist people who minimize all the windows and use their monitor as a big clock/etc. when not actively working.
