... [livejournal.com profile] jeriendhal, the time that Big Bird dared trespass upon the realms of the Egyptian Gods... and got away with dissing OSIRIS.

I... I... I got NOTHIN'. I never saw this, or heard of it, but it looks honest-to-god real. Holy CRAP. I mean... I mean... Like...

I got nothin'.

Oh, thanks. I read through that and now when I see a picture of Big Bird teaching kids to read my brain whispers, "Thoth!"

This is the sort of comment that makes me wish LJ had a "like" button.

Wow, that brings back childhood memories. I remember watching that as a kid, but I hadn't thought about it since. As a kid, I hadn't realized just who Big Bird was arguing with. Wow. Just... Yeah.

Ditto -- saw it as a kid and absolutely loved it, but was missing some of the context. I've kept an eye out for a DVD release, but so far, no luck. C'mon, CTW, you've got a real winner here!

Yeah, I never heard of this until I saw it at Scott Lynch's LJ. Sounds amazing.

I can corroborate with my own memory of the existence of this Sesame Street special. It aired one evening when my family was visiting my grandmother in Connecticut (therefore, probably a Friday or Saturday), and we all watched. In addition to the details enumerated by Jeriendhal, I recall that the transfer from the museum to the underworld involved a lot of shaking-quaking. (I don't think I'm conflating that scene with the G.I.Joe-meets-pagan-gods episode; that one involved a sinking stone floor in a temple.)
