Pirates!

Just saw Pirates of the Caribbean last night. DAMN that's a cool pirate movie. Now I have to get the soundtrack.

That and Cutthroat Island would make a great double bill.

I wondered if that movie was just another special effects fest. It seems as though a lot of movies concentrate on the effects but don't bother with getting good writers. I'll now have to definitely see the movie.

There's special effects, but mostly it's pirate action -- with nods to all the standard pirate fare, and with Johnny Depp somehow managing to simultaneously be amazingly cool, and *SWISH* like a drag queen at the same time as "Captain Jack Sparrow".
