The Upgrade that goes Down.

A little while ago we upgraded to the All-n-One package (cable TV, digital phone, RoadRunner) from TWC. This overall saves us money on the separate items.

However, we have since been experiencing problems with the RoadRunner (and according to Kathy with the phone, though I haven't noticed any). These problems have now become acute; I managed to be online maybe half an hour or so last night and it was completely out this morning. The quick fix they tried last week, obviously, has not taken. So they're going to have to come down and REALLY fix it now. As half my life is online, this is very traumatic for me. (posted, naturally, from work as I am offline at home!)

That is absolutely terrible!

I hope they get it fixed today!

Otherwise, I suppose you could see if you could get online using your neighbors' wireless networks...

That would be illegal. Even if it would work. I've never detected another network nearby.

I've done that with our neighbors -- inadvertantly. I hadn't realized anyone else in the building had one. But when I heard thunder and unplugged my laptop and went to turn off the network -- it was already off. And I was still online. Oops. I picked up three networks -- and they weren't ours.

Of course, I live in an apartment building, but the network falls off drastically through the walls and the books.

And I detected more than one network at your house. Three altogether, I think. :)

With the all in one stuff, if one thing goes, the whole thing goes down as well, so its kinda frustrating. Same goes for my Cox Cable cable TV/Cable modem deal. A PS2 really helps out when both go down.

Also, ah, I use to read your fanfics a lot, and I was wondering if you could give me an email, so I could send you some of the stuff I've written.

Network issue, if your TV is OK--the phone is voice-over-IP, and IP telephony would be running over the data network.

Are the little telephony box and your cable modem running off the same outlet?

(I would have insisted on a field services call anyway, if your wife is reporting telephony issues)
