In line with Swiss Family Robinson and Mysterious Island, one mustn't for get the castaway sequence in Doc Smith's Spacehounds of IPC. Especially given the comments regarding it made by Heinlein in one of Heinlein's essays.

Namely, the Smith was able to convince Heinlein of the plausibility of the sequence given that *Smith* could explain exactly how Our Hero got from point A to point B. In detail.

Speaking of Verne's other works, don't forget Robur the Conqueror which is either the prequel or sequel to Master of the World (I'm too lazy to go look).

Other Verne stuff that Ive only heard about (or have only seen the Classics Illustrated version of) are "Off on a Comet" and "City in the Sahara". There are others I can't recall at the moment.

Someday I hope to track down all of his stuff in English editions. My French isn't good enough to read the originals, alas.

A Merry Christmas to my favorite author!
