The Persona series is one of my favorite CRPGs for it's storytelling qualities. Pity the MMORPG didn't really capture the flavor of the single-person games.
Picked it up Monday. Completed story mode yesterday afternoon. Dayam. That's not a fighting game. It's a full-on visual novel that happens to punctuate chapters with duels.
Isn't it, though? It was brilliant, and as I said in my entry it literally brought me to tears a couple of times. It wouldn't have that effect, I think, on anyone who hadn't also played Persona 3 and Persona 4, but the combination had a tremendous impact.
I just finished playing through a large chunk of it again, ending with Aigis' story (the one that really turns on the waterworks at the end).
Oh, they did. But the reason Aigis' had the largest impact was that AFTER knowing Labrys' story, you get to the very end and suddenly you realize that Aigis fulfilled Labrys' most heartfelt wish, on the very day you first met Aigis in Persona 3, when she meets the main character...
Oh, the impact was there. But tears? No. I don't think I've ever cried from joy. Pain, anger, sadness certainly, but not joy. That's just me. I did have one of those jaw dropped "oh" moments when I made the little dock connection and then everything fell into place.
